Hola and welcome to ¿Qué tal Colombia? my blog about life in the happiest country on earth! Here is a little more information about me and what brought me here.
My name is Debby and I’m originally from a small town in Massachusetts in the United States.
I graduated from college in 2009 and spent almost 7 years working in the United States before deciding that if I wanted to fulfill my dream of living and working abroad, it was now or never. After doing lots of research, I applied to teach English in Colombia with Volunteers Colombia, an organization that places hundreds of English teachers in public high schools and colleges throughout Colombia.
In June of 2016 I hugged my family and friends goodbye and took off for Colombia, where I am living in Medellín and teaching English at a SENA center (for more information about SENA check out this post).
When I’m not teaching or blogging, I am working hard to become fluent in Spanish and to see as much of this amazing country as I possibly can.
I started this blog to keep my friends and family at home updated on what I’m up to (hi Mom!) and to provide information to others who are considering moving or traveling to Colombia. I hope to share some of the things I wish I’d known before I came here, as well as fun and interesting stories about life in this beautiful, crazy place.
Thanks for stopping by! Feel free to comment or contact me me here with questions or suggestions for future blog posts 🙂
